Jeni
Jeni Mather-FOUNDER

Jeni is the Founder and past President of Brockton Blue Dog Shelter. The idea for the shelter came as a result of her rescue of Blue, the shelter mascot, who needed surgery on his leg. Jeni and friends of J.M. Pet Resort (formerly J.M. K-9 Training) held a successful fundraiser and raised money for his surgery. She thought that if she could help one dog, then maybe there were others out there that needed help too. And with that idea, the Brockton Blue Dog Shelter was born. Under Jeni's guidance the shelter has grown to be very successful in placing hundreds of dogs into their forever homes.

In addition to her shelter responsibilities Jeni is the owner of J.M. Pet Resort. She and her husband are the animal control officers for the Town of West Bridgewater. Jeni also works part time at the North Main St. Veterinary Clinic in Brockton as a technician and receptionist. She and her husband George are also the proud parents to sons George and Russell, and daughter Ellianna.

Diane Chimbur- Treasurer, BOARD OF DIRECTORs

Diane has been involved with the shelter since 2002. After attending the very first fundraiser for Blue she knew she wanted to help find homes for all the dogs in need. Currently she is an adoption coordinator, and our volunteer coordinator. Diane is heavily involved with fundraising, and planning events.

Chris Chiocca-Vice president, BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Chris is on the Board of Directors. After adopting his dog Leon in 2003 he started to volunteer with helping out at fundraising events. You will likely find him manning the barbecue grill at Bluefest, or onstage at Comedy Night helping to be sure that things run smoothly.

Mary Lou Hannon- SECRETARY, BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Mary Lou has been involved with the shelter since it was founded. She has volunteered for many years by helping with all of our fundraising events, both big and small. She also works directly with the dogs by assisting with adoptions, vet visits and transports when needed, and taking some of the shelter dogs to training classes - pretty much whatever is needed to ensure our events and adoptions are successful! Most recently she will be handling the secretarial duties for the board of directors. Her son Wyatt is also a volunteer for BBDS and is helping to show the next generation why we should support the Brockton Blue Dog Shelter!

Sandra Vining-SR ADOPTION COUNSELOR

Sandra has been involved with the shelter since the beginning. She is a former Vice President and now oversees the adoptions. She brings to this position her experience as a trainer and the ability to match families with the perfect dog!

Katie Chiocca- assistant TREASURER, BOARD OF DIRECTORS

She is always a big part of our behind the scenes work, and you will likely see her selling snacks at Bluefest, or raffle tickets at Comedy Night. As Treasurer for our Board of Directors, Katie is responsible for paying our bills, balancing our budget and reporting our financials to the Board of Directors. Katie and her husband Chris were married in 2007 and have a beautiful baby girl.

Marion McEwan- President, Board of Directors

Marion became involved with the shelter after adopting a dog from us. She retired from a career in nursing and is now actively involved in our adoption program. In addition to helping select incoming dogs, Marion and her brother Tim pick up the dogs at the Harvard isolation facility and transport them to Blue Dog. Marion also manages the vet visits, microchipping and routine medicines for the shelter dogs and is very involved in the day to day lives of the long term dogs.

BARBARA FOUNTAINE- BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Barbara has been involved with the shelter since January 2010. She was looking for something to do to help homeless dogs during her free time so she contacted the Brockton Blue Dog Shelter & her volunteering began. Her love for dogs is what brought her to volunteer at the shelter. She can be found on adoption days introducing puppies & dogs to potential forever families. She is also behind the scenes making phone calls & checking references for adoptable families. She can be found at shelter events helping out too. She is currently studying at Animal Behavior College to become a Certified Dog Trainer. She has been known to take shelter dogs to Obedience Training at JM Pet Resort.

Carly volunteers at the shelter on Saturdays and some week nights walking and training dogs as well as helping with adoptions.

Kelsie Hill- volunteer

Kelsie started volunteering at Brockton Blue Dog Shelter in August 2006. She is a huge animal lover and was looking for a way she could spend some of her free time around them.  Someone mentioned Brockton Blue Dog Shelter and suggested she see about volunteering there, and has been involved with the shelter ever since. She helps with the special fundraising events and designs and publishes our Shelter Newsletter. Kelsie has recently stepped down from her position on the Board of Directors to focus on her new dog treat business, but will continue to volunteer when she can.

When she isn’t spending time with a Blue dog, she can be found hanging out with Sprocket and her pit bull, Sukha.

roberta luongo - volunteer

Roberta has always had a deep love for animals, and has had dogs and cats for all of her life.  After raising five children and taking an early retirement, she was finally able to volunteer.  She started at Blue Dog in April of 2011, walking and playing with the dogs.  She also does little jobs in the office from time to time, and makes vet trips when needed.  Roberta says being a part of bringing happiness to these wonderful dogs is such a rewarding feeling, and hopes to be doing this for years to come.
